Why Hospice Care?

“Why should we even consider hospice care? Isn’t it the same as being treated at a hospital?”

The simple answer is no, hospice care is different than care found at hospitals. Hospice care at Cedar Valley Hospice seeks to make each patient more comfortable physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially, as well as doing the same for their family members. It is a “whole body” approach that focuses on symptom management and comfort, not treating the disease itself.

The focus on improved quality of life gives patients the ability to feel some control over the remainder of their lives, and to help ease the transition for their surviving family members through grief support. Care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring there is always a Cedar Valley Hospice staff member to help.

Everyone deserves hospice care at end of their life. It helps manage pain and preserve the patient’s wellbeing in their last months. We encourage you to make a referral or request more information about hospice care at Cedar Valley Hospice if compassionate care and support is a need for you or a loved one.
