Richard (Dick) Anhalt was my father.

He came from a hard working family and never complained about work.

When he was 16, his dad had a stroke. He had to work the farm and milk the cows until the family farm was sold. He didn’t get to be in sports in high school but kept up on all the sports and stats for high school, college and pro.

My mom and dad were high school sweethearts.

They married right out of school and began their lives together. 3 children were born to this union.

My brother Rick, myself(Ellen) and brother,Tom.

Dad bought his own farm in 1974. We’ve had many gatherings and family events over the years on this farm.

Fast forward to when my kids were in sports ..

he never missed an event.

He loved wrestling and went to all my sons (Matt’s) meets..

He was a strong, healthy man until the cancer appeared ..

Never even complained about the treatment!

When the decision was made to move him off the farm we went to Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Best decision ever! The help there was the best ever!  Dad was cared for with respect and dignity in his final days. He passed on 2/15/2019.

This man taught me to work hard, stand up for myself and never quit!

I miss him very much, even all the sports stories that I had no idea who he was talking about. ❤️

His daughter,

Ellen
