Cedar Valley Hospice provided loving and compassionate end-of-life care for my father, mother and brother off and on since 2007. Cedar Valley Hospice has touched my life on my most difficult journeys and I am forever grateful for all they provided for me and my family.Â

I first worked with Cedar Valley Hospice through work, but it was the day I was working with Cedar Valley Hospice on location that a true understanding of what they do for patients and families sunk in. I got a phone call that my father had received a short-term prognosis and would be going on hospice care in Ohio. My personal experience was with another hospice, but I fully understand the need our community has for the extensive services Cedar Valley Hospice provides.Â

Long ago, I was the bereavement coordinator for Cedar Valley Hospice. I came to love the hospice concept of care, as well as the way death is considered part of life. I love the way the staff educates and supports families through the worst times to make them some of the best times for families. The ongoing support for families makes such a difference to those who need someone to walk with them.Â

Both of my parents and my wife’s parents have passed in the last seven years, and they have all been taken care of by a hospice in their respective areas. I know that without the services that Cedar Valley Hospice offers, families losing a loved one would be lost and not have the experience of knowing that their loved one’s passing happened with caring and trained professionals.Â

Several years ago, my Grandma Lola was served by Cedar Valley Hospice, and I witnessed the wonderful care she and my family received. In 2022, my dad, Mike Petersen, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we spent the last 10 days with him in the Hospice Home. Our family was so blessed by the amazing nurses and staff.Â

Cedar Valley Hospice is an amazing organization. They went above and beyond when my mom decided she no longer wanted to continue cancer treatment. They provided support, compassion, and listened to our questions and concerns. I honestly don’t know what we would’ve done without them. They are true angels.Â

Cedar Valley Hospice was incredibly supportive and encouraging when my mother was in her final days. I am so grateful for the guidance and compassionate presence they offered our family. Supporting Cedar Valley Hospice is important to me to continue to show our appreciation for the meaningful time they created for us during her illness and passing.Â
