Long ago, I was the bereavement coordinator for Cedar Valley Hospice. I came to love the hospice concept of care, as well as the way death is considered part of life. I love the way the staff educates and supports families through the worst times to make them some of the best times for families. The ongoing support for families makes such a difference to those who need someone to walk with them.

Both of my parents and my wife’s parents have passed in the last seven years, and they have all been taken care of by a hospice in their respective areas. I know that without the services that Cedar Valley Hospice offers, families losing a loved one would be lost and not have the experience of knowing that their loved one’s passing happened with caring and trained professionals.

I was a medical director for a hospice located in Denison, Iowa. Hospice services provide a roadmap to the end of life for families and patients in addition to their vital role as caregivers. I’m honored to have been asked to be on the Cedar Valley Hospice Board of Directors and look forward to serving.

Cedar Valley Hospice is an amazing organization. They went above and beyond when my mom decided she no longer wanted to continue cancer treatment. They provided support, compassion, and listened to our questions and concerns. I honestly don’t know what we would’ve done without them. They are true angels.
