Cedar Valley Hospice

Wins 5th Global Gallup Award

Cedar Valley Hospice has received the 2024 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA), which recognizes the most engaged workplace cultures in the world. This is the fifth consecutive year Cedar Valley Hospice has received this honor.

Gallup’s meta-analysis on team engagement and performance is the most comprehensive workplace study ever conducted, with data on more than 2 million employees in 276 organizations across 54 industries and 96 countries. Highly engaged organizations significantly outperform their peers in productivity, wellbeing and customer ratings. For Cedar Valley Hospice, this is a priority – to foster a workplace and environment that employees want to be and excel in.

“Receiving this award makes me feel privileged to be a part of an organization that stays true to its mission and core values,” said Cortney Manning, Cedar Valley Hospice office & volunteer coordinator in Waverly. “The care we provide to our patients is a direct reflection of the way this organization strives to care for its employees as well. I have been a part of the Cedar Valley Hospice team for 14 years, and I love telling people who I work for, because I am not only proud of the work we do for families, but also of the staff and who we all are as a team – the best of the best!”

Throughout 2023, Cedar Valley Hospice’s management team has worked hard to create add even more initiatives and opportunities to their growing and engaged workplace, including:

  • A new HR/payroll software system that improves transparency, visibility and access for employees to their information.
  • A new donor software that streamlines fundraising and outreach opportunities
  • Market adjustments for wages
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Quarterly team outings or activities to promote collaboration and teamwork
  • Honoring employee anniversaries and milestones (certifications, new babies, engagements, etc.)

Ultimately, Cedar Valley Hospice believes that empowering their employees leads to engaged workers carrying out our mission: To enrich lives with knowledge, respect and compassionate care.

“This award is a representation of the deep commitment Cedar Valley Hospice has for the work we do,” said Stacy Weinke, Cedar Valley Hospice director of clinical services. “The staff understand the tremendous honor, privilege and responsibility we have in Making Each Moment Matter for our patients and their families. Not only do they provide that compassionate care to the patients and families we serve, but also to each other – and that’s why it is an exceptional workplace.”
