Andrea Burgart
As told by her family and coworkers
“Andrea was a Cedar Valley Hospice nurse for 3 years before she died in 2023 at the age of 37. She cared deeply for all her patients and their families. Helping them during their difficult times actually helped her when it became her time to need care and support as she fought hard against brain cancer. It was during the vulnerable moments with her patients that Andrea realized her career as a hospice nurse was God’s calling in her life,” said Chris Schneider, sister, and Gerry Burgart, husband.
On May 10, 2023, The Courier recognized Andrea Burgart as a Top Cedar Valley Nurse, earning the prestigious honor of the Reader’s Choice Winner out of the group of 10.
Andrea said, “I often form a strong bond with my patients as they are going through a unique time in their life. Going through some of these experiences myself and having similar thoughts has allowed me to connect with them on a deeper level. It formed me as a nurse, and I treat them as if they were my own family.”
“There are no words to convey the passion Andrea had for her job at Cedar Valley Hospice,” said Cortney Manning, Angie Mohn and Amy Gomez, Andrea’s coworkers. “The journey she allowed us to be a part of was an honor that will never be forgotten. We will carry her with us always in the work we do. Andrea Burgart was truly the definition of Making Each Moment Matter.
Her family continues: “Another major calling in life was to be the best mom ever to her daughters with the limited time she had to spend with them. She loved them fiercely and had eternal hope that their lives be filled with joy, laughter, love, success and health.”
"I miss the way mom's love feels."
